New Anne Rice Novel

Picked up the new Anne Rice book today: Christ the Lord; Out of Egypt. Not sure about some of the underlying theology in places but the story (a novel: historical fiction of sorts) is engaging so far.

worship at flywheel

Hi Everyone- On November 13th we have the Flywheel in
Easthampton (flywheelarts.org for directions) reserved
from 2-5 for people to hang out, pray, eat and
brainstorm about a new monthly worship service we will
be having at the Flywheel, starting in December. This
will be informal and people are welcome to drop in or
leave at any point. We would love for you to be there
and bring anything that might be useful in this
process including but not limited to:

musical instruments
songs/hymns
art supplies
old service bulletins or liturgies
ikons and other artwork
anything that might be useful in opening up the
scripure
bibles in different translations
food to share

The goal of this upcoming service is to worship God
in Spirit and Truth through the gifts that God has
given us in the body and in so doing witness to God's
reconciling love. Which sounds really good... come
help us find out what it actually means. If you can't
make next Sunday and would like to be involved just
let me know as we will have other times like this.

in Christ's peace.

Jesus Wants His Church Back....

Read this tonight on a UK blog called Simple Church. I htink the quote is from a book called Megashift:

The issue as usual in this world, is control. And Pastors are hired because laymen have relinquished control, cut back on commitment, abandoned responsibility, and turned into spectators...Jesus wants His church back, and He's going to get it. The revival that is sweeping the world and heading towards the US and Europe will be led by a million nobodies under the clear headship of Jesus Christ.

Anne Rice Book Release Date, Tuesday, Nov 1

Ian posted earlier about Anne Rice (of Interview with a Vampire fame with tons of other books to her credit) becoming a Christian. Well her new book (Christian: historical fiction...written from the point fo view of Jesus, at age 7?) is being released tomorrow. Sounds interesting:

from http://www.annerice.com/bs_b_ChristTheLord.htm

CHRIST THE LORD: Out of Egypt

Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most ambitious and courageous book, a novel about the life of of Christ the Lord based on the gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship.

The book's power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing, and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of Jesus who tells the story.

A review states:
A cross between a historial novel and an update of Tolstoy's The Gospel in Brief, it presents Jesus as nature mystic, healer, prophet and very much a real young boy. Essentially, it's a mystery story, of the child grappling to understand his miraculous gifts and numinous birth. He animates clay pigeons, causes snowfall and dazzles his elders with unheard-of knowledge.

Walmart zombies in the Orange dome

My sister Christine and I went to visit our brother Alexander this weekend at Syracuse. The football game got boring, so we walked around the stadium as zombies. We made strangers laugh and embarrassed the rest of our family at the same time. It was great!
