Barna Update

Interesting web site of the Barna Institute...long time Christian run, religious life /practice researchers. George Barna has recently written a book called Revolution about the changes in the landscape of the church today.

Here's a snippet from the web page:

Rapid Increase in Alternative Forms of The Church Are Changing the Religious Landscape

Americans are creating new forms of religious experience and expression that are replacing the common approach (i.e., attending events and programs at a congregational form of a local church). During the last couple of years, in particular, there has been an explosion of activity in new forms of faith activity, such as the house church, marketplace ministries, and cyberchurch participation. The adherents of these new forms of the Church span the demographic spectrum.

A New Project, The Submission Project

Hey, I am having some technical difficulties that have stopped Project 17 like your momma was stopped when she tried to get into Studio 57. However, after being inspired by Ian, I am unveiling a new project, The Submission Project. Here is how it works: e-mail a picture to submissionproject@gmail.com and I will post it with a haiku on http://haikuprojects.blogspot.com/. Each e-mail must contain only one picture (repeat only one), each picture may only be submitted once per person, and if the picture is in sufficiently bad taste, it will be returned to the sender. (Feel free to test my boundaries on this, but as a general rule I won't include any pictures that, were I to publish a book containing such pictures, would ban it from a bookstore such as Borders).

Off and Running

Monday being my paper work day, I couldn't resist using part of the day to begin my day bed recovery project. Here are stages one and two. Now it must get put aside for a bit untiI I have another "paper work" break, lol.

Anne Rice...

has become a Christian!

I don't know about this first book of hers in the new light, but I'd be super interested in reading a Christian vampire novel.

(WARNING! This might not be in good taste.)

"Baptist vampires always have plenty of food around," cracked Pastor Vlad. "Our hunger for blood is not sated by grape juice!"

Brazilian Food and a Fabric Sale = Fun :-0

Went with Baird to Framingham/Natick area this afternoon to pick up a table for my mom...and.... in our search for a Brazilian restaurant to eat at I found a BIG fabic store with a sale....yeah!! I bought 2 coordinated fabrics from a fabic line called Mod Squad, to do a makeover of a 1950's day bed I got at a tag sale this summer. Oh yeah... and the Brazilian buffet and chuhascaria called Beef Grill... well.. it was stupendous. We were the only gingros there. Woo hoo... score!
