Jakob's Well Gathering

Hi, everyone- This coming Monday the 20th we will be
having a Jakob's Well gathering to pray, eat , and
discern an intentional future structure for Jakob's
Well Community which seeks to respect the places that
God has brought us so far and which will help us to
grow in love for God, each other, our friends and the
stranger. We will be meeting for prayer in Grace
Church Amherst's sanctuary and eat and hang out in the
adjoining room (the connector).

We are open to any suggestions that people have,
however we are not working from a blank slate and some
of us have become interested in the "New Monasticism."
For those like me for whom the word "monastic" can
set off alarm bells let me say that we are not trying
to do away with marriage or the Reformation, both of
which I am personally very fond. There is a whole
website devoted to this movement at
www.newmonasticism.org. See especially the 12 Marks
of a New Monasticism. These are jumping off points and
there is considerable variety in how this plays out
but it a possible starting place. If this sounds
really fishy to you I especially encourage you to come
as challenging dialog is healthy. If you can't make it
feel free to comment via email or the phone.

The evening begins with Evening Prayer at 5:30,
however those of you how are around in the morning are
also welcome to come to morning prayer at 8:30. I
would also like to invite you to stop in anytime
during the day as the church will be open and pray
especially for the coming and revealing of God's
Kingdom in this valley.

Spouses, children and significant others are welcome
(I didn't have everyone's emails). Dinner is potluck
so if you can bring something that would be great.
Mostly, however, we want to see you.
